Sugaring / Monadnock Region

Yesterday morning, with the promise of partly cloudy skies, I headed out to see what there was to photograph. I drove through Hancock, Peterborough and Harrisville and the muse just wasn’t there… I made no photographs. After lunch at the General Store in Harrisville, I headed south towards Dublin.

As I got to the Dublin School, I noticed steam billowing from a sugar shack and the muse struck. I stopped to make a few photographs… hopefully they are not too much of a cliche.

Feeling better about myself, I continued south stopping in Jaffery Center to make a few photos of the meetinghouse, a tried and true subject.

Heading towards Troy via a new route, I came across a new (to me) view of Mount Monadnock and spent some time there.

I was hoping to make some photos of the Blanket Mill in Troy but found it surrounded by machinery and fences. I’m guessing that the long promised rehab of this old dilapidated mill has begun. Rather than trying to find things to photograph there, I took a walk around the center of Troy and made a few photographs there before heading home.
