Salted-paper printing (commonly called salt prints, for short) is the original method for making photographs on paper. The process, invented in the 1830s by Englishman Henry Fox Talbot, is based on the photo-reduction of silver. Native salt prints are a warm brownish grey. I often tone my salt prints with gold which results in a more neutral grey.
