The last Sunday in April every year is Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day (WPPD). The idea is that folks make a photograph using a lensless camera and upload a single photo to the WPPD website for the world to see.
This year, my friend Al and I decided to revive a Vermont Center for Photography (VCP) WPPD event that had fallen by the wayside in recent years. VCP members and the general public were encouraged to come by the VCP yesterday and make a pinhole image.
Folks could bring their own pinhole camera or they could use one of the pre-made cameras we had available. Best of all, folks could make their own pinhole in a thin sheet of brass and make either an analog camera or modify a body cap to place on their digital camera to use and take with them when they left. About a dozen people show up during the day.
Since I was busy helping folks at the event, I did not have much time to make photographs. However, I did sneak out onto Green Street in front of the VCP and make a few pinhole photographs. Most were made with my digital camera however, I made a couple using Instax film in a JollyLook camera that I had not used previously.
We had great hopes for the darkroom door camera shown in the fifth photo. Alas, both Al and I were too busy to pay it much attention yesterday.
Too bad you did not get much time to apply your skills with the pinhole challenge. What you managed is interesting and colorful. Maybe head off when it’s not Pinhole Day??
