We have awaken to a snowy yard on each of the past two mornings. Enough snow to cover the ground and sticky enough to coat pretty much everything.
The snow, similar to the ice last week, has been very elevation dependent. Lots of snow here at the house and by the lake; not so much by the time one got down to the end of Gregg Lake road.
Yesterday (Monday) the snow was pretty much gone by mid-morning. Today, at least in some spots, the snow lasted to mid-afternoon.
I did not get a chance to make any photographs on Monday. However, today I headed out with my camera mid-morning. There was still plenty of snow around Gregg Lake and I made my first stop by the bridge. My next goal was the view of Hedgehog Mountain across a hay field that I have photographed many times before. Alas, the snow was already gone from this spot; even the summit of the mountain.
Knowing that I would need to head to higher elevations if I wanted to find snow, I pointed the truck towards Hillsborough Center and, eventually, to East Washington. My intuition was correct by the time I got to Hillsborough Center there was a small amount of snow on the ground and good amounts in the trees. Knowing that time might grow short for the snow, I did not spend much time there and headed further north and higher to East Washington, where I photographed for some time.
At roughly half past noon , the sun peaked out and the wind picked up. Consequently, there was much snow falling from the trees. I persisted with the camera for about another half hour before heading to get some lunch at the General Store in Washington. By the time I finished lunch most of the snow was gone and I headed home.
Good to see you getting out and shooting. Wish I could claim the same. I do have a few booked volunteer events comin up in May but that’s about it.
