Couple of days ago (Monday to be exact) I spent about an hour (5-6 PM) photographing odes at the Cilley Family Forest in Greenfield (formerly the Robertson Farm whose last proprietor was Joan’s cousin Steve). It was a perfect New Hampshire summer afternoon: sunny, low 70s F and not humid.
There were not a large number of odes present but I was able to photograph six species in an hour. The most abundant species was the widow skimmer; I saw roughly half a dozen. All of the other species I saw were singletons except for the pair of variable dancers.
All of the dragonflies were found in the field by Powdermill Pond. The damselflies were found in the woods close to the water.
