Back at the end of January, Joan and I headed to Maine for a bit of R&R. We spent three nights at the wonderful Blue Hill Inn. The town of Blue Hill is roughly a five hour drive (without stops) from our house. Thus we did only a little photography on the way north and none on the way home.
The reaction of some (okay, many) folks who heard of our plans was “Maine in January? Are your crazy?”. The answer, of course, is “Probably!”. Temperatures were in the single digits overnight but things warmed up to the mid-20s by midday and the winds were moderate to calm. All-in-all, dressed properly, we were very comfortable.
Blue Hill, Maine is situated on the peninsula just to the west of Mount Desert Island. On our first full day of exploring/photographing we headed south to Deer Isle and Stonington. The following day we headed east to the Schoodic Peninsula.
Really playing catch-up, aren’t you? Great selections from your Maine R&R. “Untitled #2” looks like a painting. Any pix of a lighthouse is a winner for me! Keep them coming. . .
