Last Sunday (26 April 2026) was Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day (WPPD). My friend Al and I led a pinhole photography workshop at the Vermont Center for Photography in celebration.
I don’t do a lot of pinhole photography so I went out with a home-made pinhole body cap on my Sony mirror-less camera on Thursday just to ‘get in the mood’! I had to pick up some boat parts at Newfound Woodworks in Bristol, NH and stopped at the Canterbury Shaker Village to photograph on the way home. The first four photos below are the result.
Photos submitted to the WPPD website must have been exposed on the 26th. I knew that I would probably be too busy to make many photos during the workshop. Thus, I headed out early and stopped at Chesterfield Gorge to make a few photos just in case. The fifth photo is from there.
When I arrived at the VCP, I set up a pinhole camera that I made from the hulk of an old (1920s vintage) Graflex camera that takes 4×5 inch film. I was hoping to make a few exposures during the workshop but, as I expected, I was too busy. I did manage to expose a single sheet of film. Alas, it was way overexposed. Thus, I had to settle for a digital pinhole photograph of the film camera… too ‘meta’? Anyway, it is this last photo that I submitted to the WPPD website.
The quality of the photos is quite good, I most enjoyed the compositions that you framed. Really good eye. Thanks
You always seem to find interesting subject no matter the equipment. I do like the colorful gallery shot.
