The water level in Gregg Lake has been drawn down in order to make repairs to the dam. The goal was to drop the level by about four feet. My guess is that the current level is roughly that.
To those with an abiding interest in the lake, what emerges from the depths is of great interest. Thus, yesterday, I made some photos of the lake in this most unusual of states.
Some may remember the last time the lake was similarly drawn down in the early 1980s. Alas, I did not make any photos at that time. The comparison might have been interesting.
The old (original?) dam (shown in the third photo) is at the lake end of the channel. The current dam is at the downstream end of the channel, about 1,000 feet (0.2 miles) away.
Who was in charge of pulling the plug?
And, who will be there to put it back in??
Interesting photo essay – I’ll bet the local authorities would appreciate what you shot.
